James E. Branigan is the President & CEO of Omega Risk Management LLC.  Omega is an insurance and risk management consulting firm that provides consulting services to real estate developers and numerous real estate investment banking and balance sheet lenders throughout the United States and Europe.

Mr. Branigan has written several papers on insurance and risk management in real estate finance for the Practicing Law Institute (PLI) and co-authored a chapter on insurance in the Commercial Leasing book published by the New York State Bar Association in 2004 and 2007.  He co-authored Model Insurance Requirement for a Commercial Mortgage Loan, which has been widely published in trade and the Practical Real Estate Lawyer.  He has served on the PLI faculty for the past twelve years, been a speaker at the New York Bar Committee on Leasing, and was a panelist on insurance in commercial leasing for the New York City Dirt Lawyers.  He has made presentations on terrorism insurance before the New York State Bar Association — Real Property Section annual meeting (January 2002) and the Texas Bar Advanced CLE Seminar (July 2002).  Mr. Branigan has also delivered numerous insurance training sessions for commercial real estate lenders and law firms throughout the United States and Europe.

Since 1992 Mr. Branigan has conducted or directly supervised the insurance and risk management due diligence reviews in over $200 billion in real estate loans.  Today his firm serves over twenty-five real estate investment banking firms completing nearly 250 transactions in 2007, 75% of which were construction loans.

Mr. Branigan attended City University of New York and the State University of New York, where he studied Fire Science and Business Administration.  He is licensed as an Insurance Broker and Insurance Consultant by the State Insurance Department of New York.

Philipp J. Bischoff, CPCU, is Executive Vice President of Omega Risk Management LLC and has been in the insurance industry since 1986.  Prior to joining Omega Risk Management he spent twenty years working as an insurance broker for a mid-sized, New York-based international brokerage firm.  During this time he handled the insurance and risk management needs of multi-national firms.

Mr. Bischoff joined Omega Risk Management LLC in 2006, and since then has conducted insurance due diligence reviews on over $6 billion of real estate loan transactions.  He has made presentations at the PLI, delivering the insurance and risk management portion of the 2007 real estate finance course in San Francisco and 2008 presentations in New York and Chicago.  He has delivered several insurance training sessions for both commercial lenders and real estate law firms throughout the United States.

Mr. Bischoff is a graduate of St. John’s University in New York, where he earned a B.S. in business management.  He earned his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1996.  He is a licensed Insurance Broker and Insurance Consultant by the State Insurance Department of New York.
