Hear from two industry veterans about the early days of the pandemic and the impact that it had on their large and diversified portfolios. In addition to discussing the current challenges, we will hear what opportunities are ahead for the industry and their respective firms. They will also share their “predictions” for 2021!

John Ockerbloom is a member of Barings Real Estate, a global real estate platform with extensive capabilities across both debt and equity strategies. John is a Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Equity – U.S., overseeing the real estate equity platform in the United States. He leads the development of the U.S. real estate business strategy and is responsible for building and growing the business. In addition, he serves on of the Barings Real Estate U.S. Private Equity Investment Committee. He has worked in the industry since 1997. Prior to joining the firm in 2019, John served as Managing Director and Global Head of Real Estate, Gaming & Lodging at Jefferies, where he founded the firm’s real estate investment banking business.

Prior to joining RMR in 2009, Mr. Blackman was a real estate banker at Wachovia Corporation and its predecessors for over 20 years.
